Queen of Ass

Absolutely, MD! Well said!

Stephen

Call me an ignorant ass but I didn't even know she was still alive!

landismom

I'm very saddened by the loss of this heroic woman. She was certainly a model for me.

Brent

You're right, MD. There are too few Americans worth of being called a hero. Rosa Parks certainly fits the bill. We should all mourn her passing.

Ryan

Despite the deliberate staging of her protest, I think we need to remember the courage for her to stand up for what she believed in. She not only changed the face of the civil rights movement, she changed what it meant to be a Southerner, an American and a woman. God bless her.

Meg

I honour her quiet determination and her courage to the step that started a domino effect. Every thing we do can change the world -- even staying in the seat we deserve on the bus. Thanks, Rosa.

Pattie

Well said.

And did anyone notice how damn happy she always looked? That woman smiled till the day she died...here here!

misfithausfrau

Absolutely!

Leora

Perfectly said and beautifully written, MD. Great post.

"Memories of our lives, of our works and our deeds will continue in others."-Rosa Parks

One of the most inspiring quotes of all-time.

Jesse Jackson s saying today that this should be a national day of mourning. For once in my life, I couldn't agree with him more.

Alan

Rosa Parks was kind and had a quiet determination and natural understanding of what's fair and decent. God bless her.

RBrown

Thanks, MD, for giving her proper props. Imagine if everybody really did live their life as a model for others...then everybody would be smiling as much as Rosa did.

JustLinda

She's riding that front seat of the shuttle to heaven, I'm just sure of it.

Rosa Parks was richly undeserving of the honor of lying in state at the Capitol and all the surrounding fanfare, a sad spectacle.
She refused to get up for a white man. Whoopee. Just part of a greater political agenda of which she was a part.
To make a long story short, the woman was not just an innocent victim of predjudice that decided to protest, she had long been a secretary at the NAACP, since 1942.
Worse, she attended courses and training at the Highlander School in Tennessee a known front and gathering place of communists, subversives.
Hardly a "great American".
